Leah is 28 months old today.
I do not know why that hit me so hard. I got an email from babycenter.com I think it was. They were announcing she was 28 months and my stomach did this odd lurch & I actually said outloud, "She is not!" and then in the same instant realized I that she is - in fact - 28 months old.
It's easier to say she's 2. I don't know why & I haven't thought about it long enough to figure out why I'm all upset.
I so love the stage of life she's in right now. She's is such a BLAST & this girl has the most wonderfully cheery disposition! She is very happy & will even announce to me on occasion "I so happy, Mommy!" while pointing at herself or something similar.
At this moment she is sitting on the kitchen counter. She has been for awhile. She had a box of elbow macaroni noodles & she is stirring them in a pan while also adding salt & pepper every now and then. And yes - she's also eating them - crunchy raw salt & pepper macaroni. LOL
Oh she's announced she's done... brb
Now we've danced around the room to Peter, Paul, & Mary (she asked for music), we've hopped around the room saying Ribbit (man that makes me feel like my body is old lol), switched to Meow, then "woop" (woof - she still doesn't say her Fs)
She's just so much FUN. My worse problem with her lately is that even when she's doing something she knows not to she announces it & says it so sweetly. It would be much easier to discipline her if she would have a tantrum about it - instead she just sweetly keeps talking to me & continuing to do it.
Not the worst dilemma in the world, eh? LOL Really this stage has been a DREAM. She very active & requires constant attention but she's toddler & at least she's fun too. lol
We haven't had a tantrum for awhile but when she does have them they last up to an hour. She has some serious stamina. Once she's mad - she's mad. Really really mad. I tell her she can scream & yell if she wants but she has to do it in her room. And she will go in there. She throws her toys around yells, etc. If I come in to check on her before she's finished she will tell me to get out or something similar. I'm actually fine with it. I just leave and let her get it all out. Normally she comes out, wants to snuggle, and is happy again.
We went through a stage where that happened every few days. Now it's been weeks. Maybe it's over? (said hopefully but with no hope at all ;) - some day she WILL be a teenager, right?) We do still have "time outs" (although I've never called them that to her). I say "Do you want to _______ or do you want to go sit on your bed?" or sometimes just straight to the bed depending on what she's been doing. She has to sit for 2 minutes. If she gets down it starts over but she doesn't normally. She figured out pretty quickly that made it last forever.
She also loves a few shows on Noggin. (Do you have Noggin? It's a channel geared towards preschool ages. Wholesome cartoons - no commercials - well, no commercials most of the time) She gets to watch it in the morning. At 7 AM here an odd show - that she loves of course - called Lazy Town comes on. There's a guy on there named Spartacus who saves people when they are in trouble. So the other day she's getting down off our bed (it's very very high) and she's hanging off the edge of the bed & she yells "I'm in trouble!" I laughed SO hard. "Should mommy save you?" "Save me, Mommy!" It was hysterical. Thank you Lazy Town for that precious moment! She also loves Oswald, Little Bear, Little Bill, & Franklin. Although they recently changed the line up and we haven't seen the last 3 in awhile. Lazy Town, Jack's Big Music Show, & Oswald is what it's mostly been. We usually only watch it in the mornings & then the rest of the day is busy with whatever.
Well, now that I've rambled on this long Drew is home with dinner. He convinced me we should have Mexican food tonight. Apparently he was craving stuffed sopapillas. Which he had to go buy because I didn't feel like whipping that up! ;)
