Sprinklers

sprinkler drinking

Do you remember how much fun sprinklers were when you were a kid??

Oh the sadness!

I have read what she provided. I will not talk about it until I know my fellow Twilight fan readers have read it too.

Sigh.

Fresh Fruit & Memories

I wrote this post yesterday while we were driving and saved it...

-----------------

Right now Drew & I are traveling to a town 120 miles away.

**Side Note - Leah has had an unbelievable growth spurt. She is literally down to two pairs of pants (no jeans), a couple pairs of shorts, 6 or 7 shirts, and 7 dresses - except 5 of them are summer dresses. I don't know what you know about Wyoming - but the last two years our first snows were on Sept 21st and Sept 29th. We are only 3 weeks away. Anyway - we're off to get her an entire wardrobe today. At least we made it through the summer so that we only need to buy a winter wardrobe, right?

So Drew & I are chatting and eventually wind around to memories. We starting talking about some specific memories and I laughed and said my favorites - of the dating year - are the ones were he made it blatantly obvious how much he liked me.

One day I was working at a fruit stand at the grocery story where my current job was (I was voted to work the fruit stand because of all the checkers I was the only the manager believed could make correct change in my head! LOL Apparently this is a lost skill in the world of technology). Drew came up to the fruit stand and said hello. He was on his way to a doctor's appointment and stopped for a snack. He proceed to eat a completely UNripe peach. I mean ROCK hard. I said, "Don't eat that it's not ripe!" and he says, "I like them that way." The look on his face as he chewed completely betrayed him. Gross. Unripe peaches have no flavor and they are so hard. And immediately I thought - huh, this guy is just here to see me! He wanted to eat that unripe peach so he could keep talking to me!

PS The doctors appointment was real - 120 miles away - however the store I was at was in the wrong direction for his travels ;)

I'm ever so grateful he made it obvious he liked me! And that he still loves me so much.

Happy Day

I'm still just having the happiest day. Church was fun. Have I mentioned I love working in Young Women's (the 12-18 year old girls at church)? Well, I do! It makes Sundays all the more fun.

I talked to Drew after worked. You can hear the happiness beaming over the phone! Happy, happy man.

Good thing we don't live 30 minutes from the building. hehe

OH!

Yesterday Leah says to me...

I took these cookies to Young Women's today. I'd never tried them before. GROSSEST. COOKIES. EVER. Sick.

Work, Work, Work!

Drew went back to work this morning! We woke up and he was checking the boards online & he couldn't find himself at first. I walked in the room & said, "What are you doing?" He responded, "Trying to find myself." lol

And then we discovered that right then they were adding him to the boards! And not only that but he was first in the line up so he left for work just an hour and a half later!

He's on cloud 9 & NEVER have I been so happy to see my husband leave the house! ;)

Hooray!

And Leah is dancing around saying "It's church day! Yeah!" Better get her ready!

Visit with Nana - Update

Leah did AWESOME at my mom's house! She went to bed with Nana. She was fine when she got up. And I got there about an hour & a half after she was awake. She was happy to see me but not bizarrely. She took it in stride. I was so very proud of how well she handled that!

We spent the night with Nana the next night (all of us) and when it was time for bed she wanted Aunt Leah to come do the night time routine but as I started to leave the room Leah was very concerned & said "Stay mommy! You stay" (or something similar). The idea being that apparently two nights in a row away from me P8180023was too much ;) I was glad! Two nights away from her would have been too many for me too!

I'm so happy it went to   so well! Now at least I know she'll be okay. And I don't have  to fear the "first time" anymore!

PS Tyce & Leah two years ago tomorrow!

**Daisha - HOW is that possible??? TWO years ago?

Visiting Nana

Well, my daughter is not here right now.

Last night when we were getting ready to leave my mom's house Leah didn't want to leave. This happens frequently & I always tell Leah she can stay if she wants to but I'm going home. (in a nice way - I don't do this meanly!) However, she always eventually chooses to come home with me.

But yesterday... she did not.

It was painful to watch her make the choice - and not because I wanted her to come home with me - but because the choice was HARD for her to make. She wanted so badly to stay & she didn't really want to do without me. We calmly talked about it. I didn't sugar coat it to trick her into staying. I explained that meant she would sleep with Nana & Papa tonight, Mommy & Daddy would go home, & when she woke in the morning Nana would make her breakfast, we would come back later, etc. I laid it all out for her.

And I watched her face as she made the decision. She would think about it and lay on me for a second. Then she'd sit up. Then lay on me & hug me & say "mommy" under her breath. Everyone kept talking to her and she just kept hugging me.

Then all of the sudden she moves over to Nana's lap with no prompting and for a minute she still had a hand on me. And then she let go & curled into my mom. And then after another minute or so it was clear she had decided. This was safe, Nana would be there, and she was staying. We said bye, she kissed me.

I walked  to the van, we drove slowly away waiting to see if she'd change her mind. Then when we got to where there was a cell signal (my parents live in the middle of nowhere) we called & she was still fine.

Leah is 2 years, 9 months, & 2 days old.

I cried when we got home & we went to bed.

I miss her. Nothing feels right without her here.

I am proud of her! I am proud of me. SHE made this choice & I did not hinder her. She did it because she was ready. She feels safe.

I love her so much. This morning it feels almost painful.

And it's 6:46. I couldn't go back to sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about her!

I'm getting Drew up in 15 minutes... ;)

DHL

DHL - oh how I loathe thee!

I can't not say I've had a good experience EVER with DHL' s shipping company. And this time is no different. I'm certain it doesn't help that I live in Nowhere, WY but UGH. UPS manages just fine! Fedex always works. So what is the big deal?

I ordered a new laptop from Dell - who always uses DHL these days.

So, as I'm tracking the laptop (I want to be home when it arrives!), I see it go from NV to SLC. Woohoo I think! That's so close.... Well, it went from SLC - 5 hours WEST of me to Aurora, CO (Denver) which is 4 hours South EAST of me. Idiots. They had to pass my house to manage that.

But I understand, major hubs responsible for certain areas I'm sure. Whatever.

Then it leaves Aurora & says "tranferred for delivery" - whatever that means because it didn't come that day.

And this morning... it's in Rock Springs! That's 120 miles WEST of here again.

That means my laptop passed my house AGAIN.

And now it just says "in transit to" - not out for delivery. Perhaps they want to take it to Laramie? 100 miles on the other side of me???? ACK!

Adoption #2

We had our appt today. It was fun!

I had all the paperwork to start working on. Our caseworker is the nicest guy! He was very realistic. Hopeful but not unrealistic and not pessimistic.

Not much else to report. He did say he thinks we can have everything all done by the end of October. And had a plan all laid out for that. Very exciting!!!

Wrong Way!

On the way to church yesterday, Drew passed the street we needed to turn on (he was chatting with me). And Leah - from the back - yells "hey! I want to go to church!"

"We are going, Leah."

"But..."

Suddenly I realized she KNOWS we went the wrong way. So I had to reassure her that daddy passed the street & he would go back to the right place.

Drew & I then resumed talking as he drove through a neighborhood to get back to where we needed to be. And when we turned onto the right street all the sudden Leah yells...

"THIS is the right street!"

I can't believe she knows the way! And it's not like you could see the church from there. We were still about 8 blocks away & a street over. We really were just then back on the right path. Crazy!

Unknown Fact

Oops. I left that blank. Thanks Jaycey ;)

So here's the thing. I'm an open book. I'll tell you just about anything about myself. Whenever I hit questions like that I'm completely stumped.

So I was gonna go back to that question & I forgot. lol

Let's see....

I need to pee right now? that's cheating.

Um...

I went by my first name - Anna - for one year. In 3rd grade. I don't know why I wanted to do that. But since I had it switched on my records at school (mom had registered me as just Camille to begin with) no one would ever change it back because legally my name is Anna Camille. And that followed me through school for the rest of my education. Such a pain.

"Anna?"

"Here. I go by Camille."

:)

Adoption Update #2

We have a new caseworker in Denver. Dan.

He called me yesterday.

Well, first. On Sunday I got a call from a woman that works for the office in Utah but lives in Wyoming. She wanted to talk to us about where we were in the process. I mentioned I thought we were being transferred to Denver & she didn't have any idea what I was talking about! lol She said she'd call me back when she found it. Whatever!

So yesterday (Thursday) Dan calls and says he got our file about 10 minutes ago. He's coming through here next Tuesday & would we like to meet! Hooray!

So he thinks that we can get most every done in 3 visits. He comes through here once a month. So our 3rd visit would be in October & if I can get all the paperwork done in the meantime we can be waiting soon. That's so exciting!

And even though Drew is not working full time right now we are getting some money at the first of September we can pay the inital fee with & then go from there.

At least some things are moving along! :)

Harry Potter Husband Test

This is funny! My sister took it & was Mrs. Bill Wesley.

Your result for The Harry Potter Husband Test...

Mrs. Harry Potter

Your perfect HP man is Harry Potter.

You like a guy who's not afraid to fight evil when evil picks a fight. There's a lot to say for bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, even if it does come with a prejudice against people who don't fit into his conception of "good guy" and a penchant for hurling objects across rooms when he gets angry. But in fairness, for an orphan who's spent the better part of his life being hunted by the most evil wizard in existence, he's turned out pretty well. Just be prepared to name your kids after everyone he's ever lost, because he's got a bit of an obsession about the past.

Moments

Some of my favorites for the last couple of days...

Drew asked Leah if she would like to come with him to go to the store.

L: For what, Daddy?
D: Line for the weed whacker

When they arrived at the store - "Daddy, is this the weed whacker store??"

***

Bring me a big teddy bear - "Mommy, my bear doesn't feel well."

I don't know why that caught me so off guard. She's two. Should she say "bear sick, mommy" or something like that?

***

Drew asked Leah - "Do you want to go for a walk with me?" (calling up to her from the main floor to upstairs)

Leah screams back excitedly - "let me just get dressed real fast!"

***

I know that stuff is cutest to me but I thought I'd share anyway ;)
